Dipstick tube broken

Postby thedmc1 » Sat Nov 13, 2021 11:32 am

Anyone done the dipstick tube?
I have a big oil leak, just gone under and see the tube isn’t lined up with the hole in the block, has this snapped?
Anyone changed it before? Tips on getting what ever is stuck in the block out if anything? Looks tight to get into it

So from what I can make out it’s not snapped any suggestions as to how this makes a seal?

I've had a couple of these come loose on various vehicles, and those all seemed to be just a push-in, interference fit. I've fixed them by cleaning the area thoroughly, and re-fitting the tube with Loctite "stud and bearing fit" If it's cleaned properly and allowed to harden, it won't come out again.

I might go order a new tube, when I bolt it back on the bottom doesn’t line up it’s almost like the tube is the wrong angle and when I get it to line up it just springs away from where it should be

It’s almost like there should be a bit tube that goes into the block and not just a flange, am I missing something

Job done,
Anyone else with broken dipstick tube your going to need
Oil (I buy 10l castrol 5w30 magnatec £55
New sump tpuk £29
And a new tube Ford £26 or £22 if you can wait on delivery
Gasket seal (Granville High temp) Amazon £13

Been a costly fix since I had only did oil and filter and sump 1500 miles ago so wasted best part of £90 having to buy it all again,
I wouldn’t risk reusing sump

Broken piece was stuck in the block, only fix was drain oil, sump off, made a solid rod to fit the hole and knocked it out from the bottom,
