Ned if was ever going to fit a performance filter it would be a panel one and that would only be for protection against the filter getting water damage.

That’s why I fitted the cone filter on lucifer as the stupid air box design just got piss wet through all the time, where’s the air box on the mk8?

Driver’s side up near the bulkhead opposite side to the BCM so if you don’t get water in one you can get in the other or even both .

I’ve had cone filters on cars over the years along with big bore exhaust and is ok for short runs but on longer runs you soon get fed up of them .

Still don't understand it. That induction vid just sounds like you've got a duff exhaust. Cone filters are awful. Even with a cold air feed, it's mixing with hot air in the engine bay so you're actually losing power. Don't believe me, there are loads of YouTube vids with back to back Dyno runs between cone and standard paper filter in the factory airbox. Performance panel filters are ok, but don't filter half as well as paper. The only induction kit I've ever seen make reasonable gains is a BMC CDA. I wouldn't fit any of the above to a diesel though.

I did say you don’t gain any power, the reason I fitted one on my old van was because of the stupid place the air box was, it used to get soaked from the windscreen drain, I’d rather have air going through the turbo then soggy wet air filter

There’s many things people fit that I don’t see the point of, bug guards, plastic sun visors I can’t see the point of but each to their own I suppose :P
