Oil Change Required reset after s/w update

Postby DeRo » Tue May 03, 2022 1:14 pm

My 2nd service is due end of August. Van will be on c. 20,000

When main dealer did first in August 2020 they gave me a 3 page leaflet with the invoice - Transit EcoBlue Engine Software Update.

Leaflet says;
Change Engine Oil Soon message will appear when oil is approaching end of life.
If not done within 500-1,000 miles Oil Change Required appears.
Then after a further c.1,500 miles a spanner warning light will illuminate and engine power reduces.

Could anyone advise please what the oil change required reset procedure is after this s/w update?
Is it different to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Anh25qkknA ?

Just read the manual, yeah I know I should have done this in the first place :oops:

Says I should be able to reset Oil life through Settings/Convenience/Oil Life reset. However I've never had Convenience or Oil Life reset as options and I've had van since new.

Just got Maintenance and only option under that is AdBlue info.

So am still none the wiser in case anyone out there knows more than me...

I'd go with the youtube vid with ignition on and feet on brake and accelerator pedals.
That method worked on my old 2003 Transit and also works on my 2016 Custom.
Also change the oil and filter every year or 10 -15,000 miles whichever comes first although you might still have to do the reset with the pedals trick.

Manual says brake and accelerator reset procedure for 2.2 and reset for 2.0 as per the menus above. Mine is 2.0.

So assuming the brake & accelerator doesn't work I don't know how to reset it.
