Battery Voltage and alternator

Postby smalltownmotion » Wed Jul 27, 2022 3:31 pm

I have noticed that with the stop start button engaed - so eco mode off that my alternator is charging my battery and I am getting around 14.5v accross the dual battries under the seat. I purchased these from halfords a afew years back to replaced the original :

I am noticing that with a mutlimedtere accross the batteries with the ingnton off and all the doors shut they are dropping voltage as i watch form 13v down to 12.3v. Is this normal or do I have a drain. They dropped in under 10mins.

When you press the S&S button alternator works as a regular one, not smart, so it's charging all the time and not disengaging.

12.3V for an AGM battery is like a 70% full battery. Usually the stock setting for the "state of charge" is 80% so sounds good to me.

Anyways, those vans have quite an excessive baterry consumption when static...

Cheers,

David
