Injector leakdown, good or bad result?

Postby v8manuk » Tue Aug 16, 2022 4:02 pm

Hi, 2016 Custom LWB 290 that has been running poorly for some months. Finally got round to an injector leak down test today. With the engine already warm I ran it at idle for about 5 minutes. The result is shown in the image but basically about 4.2 ml on injector 1, 4.5 ml on injector 2, 4.7 ml on injector 3 and 4.0 ml on injector 4.

Anyone like to comment on whether this would be considered a good or bad result please?

Also not knowing too much about this but which injector would be the suspect one (I guess #4 but please advise)?

Many thanks

The euro 4 denso spec is tickover for 4 minutes and 25ml min to 40ml max.

If your siemens are the same spec then take 1minute off that and if it is 35+ then it is in spec but just.

You could try getting them sonic cleaned etc.

I would say they are all similar at least and despite being high I would probably only expect a little minor hesitance or slight issue when cold etc.but the injectors on the euro 5 do seem a bit rubbish quality.

Your only real truth is trying 4 new ones to see.
