Electric Mirrors 2017 Custom

Hello - I am looking for a little advice, I have a 2017 Transit custom with folding mirrors . The mirrors work and fold with the drivers door closed, but if I open the drivers door past a third open, then thy won't work - is this safety feature on the mirror or do I have a wire problem.- Just checking if anyone else has come across this before. The door looms on these are a known problem area, there may be a partially severed wire where the loom passes between the door and van.
