P208A Fault Code - Reductant Pump Open Circuit

Postby andyh747 » Tue Jan 24, 2023 5:35 pm

Hi All,

I have a 2019 Custom which has 31000 miles on the clock. Went for it's MOT and passed then the next day engine light came on. Got a colleague to connect a OBD code reader and the fault is P208A - Reductant Pump Open Circuit. From my understanding, this is the Adblue pump and circuit. A local garage has had a look and can see no issues with the harness connections. They can't identify whether this is the PCM or the pump itself.

Anyone had similar or can advise any way to identify whether it's the control module or the pump itself? The control module is less costly to replace but would ideally want to avoid replacing two items if only one is at fault.

Before I have to venture to the garage again, anyone had this issue?

Hello mate, I think I have the same problem with P208A as you. I was wondering if you have fixed this, because I replaced the connection from the pump to the dpf because my one was broken and that is not the issue. I still have the same code. Thanks.

Unfortunately I ended up replacing the pump and wiring. Nobody, including Ford, could identify exactly what in the Adblue system was causing the fault so the entire system was replaced. Thankfully as the van was only just out of warranty, Ford agreed to pay the bulk of the replacement costs but it was still over £1000  .

Hope you get sorted easier than I did. Good luck.
