2019 Headlight failure

Postby aldervai » Sat Jul 15, 2023 8:17 pm

2019 Custom 2.0
So I was washing my van, with a focus on the roof, and later on when I started the van up and drove, the left indicator wasn't working. Then I realised the whole left headlight wasn't working. I used my forscan and it showed a ground fault in the left headlight. I swapped the headlights to make sure, and sure enough it's the connector not sending power, and not the headlight itself. Does anyone have experience of this? I've tried searching for fuses but to no avail. Seems to be perhaps something in the BCM? Also tried looking at the connectors in the engine bay but as with electrics it's hard to physically see anything wrong.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Ok so, I've had a good look around and can surmise that for some reason, a portion of the windscreens water runoff flows down and through a small gap that runs over the electrics in the passenger side of the van. It's obviously no coincidence that the headlight stopped working after I washed my van. But isn't this a ridiculous design issue? Anyhow, my other question is the BCM. Where is it? I've got the Haynes manual, searched the online videos, and found nothing conclusive. For some reason, the 2018 redesign of the Custom has very little documentation available, with even the Haynes manual using a lot of info from the previous design.

Anyone know definitively where the BCM is? I feel like a fuse has blown on it somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Possibly to the right of the main AJB in the panel under the steering wheel?

Thanks.

Is it not behind/underneath the passenger fuse box, like the Mk7? :?

Found it. No, there is no passenger fuse box by the looks of things. The glove box has the internal air unit behind it. The BCM appears to be to the far right of the AJB, on the driver's side, behind the cup holder. No idea how I'm going to get to it as of yet. Also, anyone know how to get at the PCM in the engine bay?

Hi,
Just wondering how you got on with this ?
I've got exactly the same issue with my 2018 custom, passenger light unit not working at all, since washing my van
Cheers

More than likely water ingress into one of the connectors in your bcm. Remove cup holder driver side. And another 2 panels all T25. Unplug the connectors and inspect for any signs of this. Can also be in passenger side behind cup holder. Big multi plug that is also prone to water ingress.
