Transit Custom Ecoblue as a daily

Postby dioliahary » Fri Aug 29, 2025 4:19 pm

I recently bought a 2019, eco blue custom. Campervan.

What I didn’t factor in was that I do the school run in it and use it as a daily drive.

I have read nothing but negativity on using the custom like this, soot build up, dpf management etc.

Does anyone else have these concerns or manage them, any opinion and advice welcome as now considering selling to get a more suitable camper an with a engine that would manage the daily drive, shame as I have invested a lot of money in it and would dearly love to keep it.

A fifteen minute highway run once a week should be enough to get the DPF regen done.

Or set manual DPF option on in Forscan. Then you can monitor DPF fill rate and do a manual regen when needed.

You need Forscan to set the manual DPF regen: https://forscan.org/home.html

Manual regen is an official option when ordering a new van, mainly for courier vans etc. but it can be activated later with Forscan.

At the risk of being a pain, can you recommend the connection lead for window laptop.

I see different options on sale.

I am looking at OBDlink.

OBDLink EX is what I’ve been using. Works well.

Thank you, took it for a blast down the motorway today, the DPF was at 65%, when I got home it had cleaned itself down to 10%.

So good advice, a 30 minute blast once a week looks good.

Not suere about using Forscan as I have a habit of messing IT stuff up  .

Hi interesting what’s the difference between passive regeneration and forced regeneration I know O’Reilly autos doesn’t recommend a forced regeneration is the passive regeneration something you can activate when driving on my old 2.2 when you pulled up say at home you could tell it was half way through a regeneration but it was to late as you only realised when I turned it off and got out the van.

I am really new to this, but my take on this, is that passive regeneration happens when you get your revs to 2000 to 2500 travelling greater than 40 mph for around 30 mins.

I think you have to use Forscan to induce a forced regeneration.

When I took my van out for its run today, there was no indication of it regenerating but the filter went to 10 % from 60 %.

In saying that, I had to do 10 mile journey, and where I live that can take an hour and did, the exhaust filter now reads 20%.

When the Operator Commanded Regeneration (OCR) is activated in Forscan it’s possible to start a DPf regen when the van in stationary. The DPF has to be at least 80 % full. The revs go up to around 2100 rpms to 15-20 minutes until the DPF is purged.
