2019 Ford Tourneo Custom 2.0d duratorq Boost issues

Postby jlexus » Fri Oct 31, 2025 3:52 pm

HI guys, newbie here. I bought a 2019 Tourneo with 100k miles on it in Jan this yr. I have had nothing but issues and spent around £4k on her since then (some of that was paint as now registered as a private hire vehicle.) I use this car for private hire but its been nothing but a pain in the bahooky.

I have had the following done since I've owned her:

New Turbo
Wet Belt service
New DPF pressure sensor
New MAF sensor
New MAP sensor
New Boost control pressure sensor
New Vacuum pump
New AdBlue tank and injector

The reason was, I was getting a stuttering at 1500 rpm or above and 1 by 1 I was told faults in sensors then turbo, but this didn't clear the fault - feels like dirty fuel. Injectors are good as diagnostic shows equal pressure and under load.

My new turbo is now showing an issue with boost and when I'm driving and when i turn off engine it sounds like a dyson hoover, which I would assume is a vacuum leak which is also contributing to low engine performance and also code P2598 which is turbo stuck in low ( actuator arm tries to move but can't), all this is pointing to a vacuum leak but i cannot find a diagram in the tintnet anywhere for the vacuum system.

Also did the ecu unlock (it has the infamous 212 ecu locked to Ford) so its been unlocked by the guys in Luxemburg and adblue deleted (hooray) and a power boost from 100bhp to 160bhp. (same turbo and engine as 170bhp model)

So can anyone help with a vacuum diagram to the turbo as i cannot physically see any pipework due the location on the turbo (sits behind the air box at back of engine), any help would be appreciated before I put a match to this headache.

Thanks guys.

Does it have a vacuum line ?

i thought the only ones that had a vac line were the older turbos with a wastegate with a diaphragm operated actuator .. pre 2010 stuff, mk6, and my 2006 mk1 connect etc

You have an electronic actuator .. no wastegate .. and the actuator pulls on vanes in the turbo to alter the dynamics of them to make less or more boost.

and just to make sure ive just looked at loads of pictures on ebay of ecoblue turbos ,, .. and cant see said vacuum line on any of them.

Thanks Mark, yes that makes sense, I actually don't see any vacuum lines on the turbo.
I am getting a boost leak from somewhere and it sounds like a Dyson hoover and more noticeable when turning off the engine. My actuator arm is clicking when engine is off but not moving. Diagnostic shows code P2598, I'm thinking it may be an egr issue? Any thoughts? Appreciate the replies and help.

Read this post here

noting: the vanes can stick , busting or stalling the actuator
viewtopic.php?f=65&t=235473

check also boost pipes for leaks

Thanks again Mark for reply, I really hope its not the the vanes as its a brand new turbo fitted 6 weeks ago.
Its going into garage monday 03rd Nov to the guys that fitted it, Ive also now noted a diesel leak which may have occured whilst i was changing out the vacuum pump - this car is cursed, FORD really messed up with this engine.
