2005 Transit camper conversion for spares/repairs £600

Postby vangoff » Mon Jul 15, 2019 2:11 pm

My beloved silver Ford Transit |(2005), SWB, low roof, reg. WN55 TPU has finally bitten the dust, or rather the rust.

I bought it in 2010 and converted it to a camper. But it failed its last MOT because of serious rust in the chassis which couldn't be welded and is therefore a non-runner. I've had plenty of offers by people wanting to tow it away for scrap :( , but I spent so long on the conversion I am reluctant just to let it go (have a look at my posts over the years to see how I agonized over every part of the conversion process!) We have had many happy holidays in it, including a trip to Brittany and lots of adventures in the Welsh mountains.

Someone else who is doing their own conversion could make use of all the bits and pieces that I got, or made, for it:

SMEV 8322 2-Burner Hob and Sink Combination Unit, with manual (cost £200 new)
"Whale" 12V Submersible Electric Pump,10 Litres
MAXRACK 7-Bar Gallery Rack (cost £350 new)
Galvanised Universal Fit Rear Door Ladder (cost £125 new) - a bit dented after someone drove into the back of me!
Kitchen unit with cupboards and drawers, made of solid pine, to house gas cylinder, water containers, pump, food, etc.
Two solid pine bench seats which convert to very comfy double bed (we slept across width of van) - the seats have storage areas underneath for sleeping bags, etc.
Upholstered foam mattress/cushions in denim blue
Porta Potti, housed in its own little cupboard at back of van
Tow bar

Van is fully insulated (roof, floor and walls including doors) with Kingspan and Space Blanket
Interior of van is fully carpeted with purpose-made van carpet from Mega Van Mats (light grey) - unfortunately this is now coming unstuck in places!
Floor is carpeted

There is also professionally installed:
- Fiamma rooflight for ventilation
- side window in the sliding door
- rear windows in both back doors

Feeling really heartbroken just listing all these things and thinking of the time. energy and money I spent on the conversion, but the van is not ever going to run (not without SERIOUS welding that I can't afford), so I am having to resign myself to letting it all go!

As it's a non runner, no MOT or insurance, just a SORN notification (and a flat battery), it will need to be towed. So please bear this is mind if you are interested. I live (and the van lives) in Malvern, Worcestershire.

Please also bear in mind that the van has not been used since October last year. The interior is therefore a bit dank, musty and dusty, and the driver and passenger seats seem to have got a bit mouldy! Sold as seen.....

£600

Happy to send photos if you are genuinely interested (haven't got any current ones so will have to take some).

Hello,

Do you have a Truma/Trumatic that runs on gas by any chance?

Thank you very much!

Hello, yes it is still available.
Someone else has bought the Smev hob/sink, the leisure battery, and the kitchen unit.
But the van still has the roof rack, the seat/bed units, roof light, etc.
You can email me direct at walden.cottage@gmail.com
Thanks!

Have emailed you back!
Yes it's a non-runner. Hasn't moved since last October when it failed the MOT due to bad rust in chassis, so battery completely done for.
Will email you pics ASAP.
