WANTED: Transit 2.5 Di engine...again!!!!

Postby Galahad » Sun Apr 27, 2008 8:01 pm

Not happy, my Transits replacement engine after a month has dumped its oil on the road and killed itself.

Need a replacement engine PRONTO, i'm in Radstock near Bath and Bristol, would prefer one in a rotten van I can drive back, take out engine and weigh in the rest, or one removed that is suitably cheap.

Need one like yesterday, cash waiting, and I really don't have time to travel all over the country for one, as close as possible please.

L reg or thereabouts. Truck is an F reg, and both engines came from an L reg donors.

i've been offered a P reg, but that has a chipped key, and i'm not 100% sure if thats going to be an issue (is the stop solenoid heavily protected?)

We have an DI out of an S reg in one of our Mks, I took the pump to a diesel specialist and he hit the immobiliser bit on the back twice with a big hammer and it fell off  !

Is it difficult to transfer over all the immobiliser system from the later model into mine? Wouldn't mind a touch more security for my Transit, as at the moment, its no more secure than a £20 note lying on the floor.

Got a Transit for £120 from Dursley in Gloucestershire, 60 mile round trip, bloke even put enough diesel in it to get me home :)

Ex BT van on an M plate, although the key was chipped, there was no transponder, so no immobiliser issues, engine is now in my truck and purring :)

Engines a bit of an odd one, it sounds really nice and quiet, but i think its quite an old engine.

Bosch pump, EGR piping to the manifold, but hey, if I can not screw this one up, at least it can have veggie oil in it!

is there anyway to tell what power this engine puts out? And can it be easily modded to give out more power?

Glad you are sorted, what I meant was the engine starts directly from the ignition, there is no factory immobiliser on the Mk2, so you don't need it to start the engine. You wouldn't have to have swapped anything over, just do without.

I would put up a separate ad for that mate, looks like Galahad is sorted now.
