Minibus/Ambulance with tail lift

Postby trippydog » Mon Aug 15, 2011 12:24 pm

My wife is in a wheelchair and I'm looking for a vehicle to make it easier for her to get out and about.

Ideally she'd like to ride in the front passenger position in her wheelchair but it seems rare to find a vehicle that allows that without paying £20k and getting all the stuff to drive from a wheelchair as well.

I'm expecting to have to make some adaptations (ensuring clear run and level floor to front, remove pass seat, fit clamps) but the less I have to do the better.

Main requirement is a tail lift (ideally internal so I can fit a towbar, but underfloor would do). Wheelchair tracking, clamps & belt would be very useful, tinted/privacy windows, rear lights and storage a bonus.

Ex-ambulance/PTS probably ideal. Budget ~£3k, poss bit higher for right bus. Any size & model considered. I'm in Hampshire but happy to travel for right vehicle.

Hope I can find a tranny before I seriously look at ex-ambulance Sprinters!

Cheers,

Si

I've got the electric clamp that holds the wheelchair in position.

I've also the Unwin tracking, clamps and seatbelt.

Sold the Ricon Lift though.....

Could be good if I don't find a van with one. Is is straightforward to fit? Where are you and how much are you looking for? Thanks.

Very interested. Reckon I need about 4ft of tracking, 4 clamps, seatbelt & clasp to secure the chair (& my wife!) in the front. (Please let me know if I've got that wrong!)

Electric clamp could be good, does it need a fitting attached to the chair? Could you please let me know the make/model?

Prices including postage would be great, thanks
