Need a new Van. Transit semi High, SWB wanted

Hi guys,

who ever is looking for a new caring home for his beauty....
I'm looking for a Transit, semi high roof, towbar, good condition not to many miles.
Diesel powered, if possible turbo.

I need it to carry my bike on the towbar (160Kg Rally Bike),
to convert it to a semi motorhome, but still able to carry a second bike in the loading area.
So I will need sturdy springs on the rear and barn doors.
The more windows in the rear section the better

I was looking on ebay and think I want something build between 1995 and 1999 (or younger) for between 1500 and 2000 quit.

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

cheers
Stefan

Hi there,

yes I'm sure

I need the van for daily commute, so it shouldn't be to big (SWB)
It has to go on a ferry whenever I visit family abroad or has to go in the train to go to Africa. So it shouldn't be to high, a normal one just does the job and a semi high is that little bit of luxury, you know

The bike fits in a VW T4 (actually two of them) so it should also fit in a Transit

Yes, I'm the fat bloke in the pictures

It's the approx weight the van is legally allowed to carry :D

Transit 100 = 1 tonne. 150 = 1.5 tonnes :?:

How much weight are you gonna carry :?:

You seem to know one or two things about Transits

Does this look alright and what would be a good price and what would be to much?

Well it's cheap enough :!:

It's had a recent respray ( without much masking  )

140,000miles not exactly low, but if it's had regular oil changes it'll be no prob at all :!:

L O N G WHEELBASE :o :?

Maximium two bikes (150kg each) plus three persons (100Kg each) plus luggage = 800Kg max.
But one bike on the towbar behind the rear wheels. So a 100 is the minimum I guess.
Feels like grammar school all over again :)

Make sure you take a magnet with you :!: Those front and rear wheelarches will need a very careful check

And remember that you'll need to wax that red paint regular, as it fades fast :!:
Don't you mind that the door locks, handles, hinges, scuttle panel and headlamp washers have also been painted :?:

No don't mind the paint. What I mind is that he says nothing to the mechanics but talks about the bloody CD player.

I think I will look a bit further. There is this MK6 in the for sale section......

Got one,

had a few around here to choose from, but settled for a SWB Semi high 1998 R reg in Silver.
It has a standard Diesel not a turbo and it is just a 80 but the ride is nice and the engine sounds good.
It has minor rust bubbles and was a builders van.
Looks scruffy on the inside.
It also has second row of seats that I will sell off or swap for other parts.

Any ideas what mpg and max. speed I can expect?

cheers
