Sub-£250 transit for Monte Carlo banger rally

Hi all

Hopefully this is the right place to post. Does anyone have...or have any advice where would be the best place to look....for a sub £250 Transit? Either with a bit of MOT left or not needing much to get it over the line.

We're taking part in the Monte Carlo or Bust banger rally in July ( http://www.montecarloorbust.eu ) to raise money for charity and the rules state we can't spend more than £250.

We'd probably need to take ownership by April at the very latest (just in case any of you have one you're planning to get rid of in a few weeks) as we want to fix it up and decorate it. We can pick up anywhere in England and we'd be happy to include your logo or name in any branding if you're a company owner who wants to offer us a deal on an old van?! 8)

Many thanks in advance for any advice/ suggestions.

xox

I think you will have great trouble finding one for £250...

They make more than that as scrap and are also wanted for export

Try one of the Big transit breakers, they may let you have one cheap

in exchange for the advertising 8)

Thanks Captain Hook - I'll have a google. Are there any in particular you would be able to suggest?

Hi Fred - that was the plan - but it's not essential. Why do you ask?

cheers

because
1 why drive miles when you can weigh it in here?

2 its a waste of parts

I have nothing against banger rallies for charity but at least bring the poor thing back! I have just aquired a Mk1 camper to break that has parts earmarked for at least 4 vans. I paid £160 for it and know of a Mk2 that could be had for 250 but wouldnt let either rare piles of parts off the other side of europe just to get squashed. Even a roadworthy Mk5 would be wasted. Have you thought about looking for a sprinter?

Thanks chaps.

Whatever we buy, I think we'll now bring back sell/scrap as at least we can recoup some of our costs.

I'd still love to somehow get my hands on a transit - so if anyone can help then please give me a shout.

cheers

If you want to bring it all the way back as well it'll have to be a transit.

A sprinter would have to be scrapped down there, or possibly on the way there

Think you may struggle to find anything near road worthy under £250

I may be interested in supplying a mk5 (smiley) transit

we could possibly work something out where in return for advertising, and return of the van when the rally is completed, there would be no charge for the vehicle

just thinking aload at present, finer details would need working out

if you are interested come back to me

best wishes Mike

Telford thats an excellent offer and one IP should take up. IP in case you dont know the Mk5 is bullet proof.
