Mk7 3.2 200PS

Morning all, long time member, lurker and not very active poster :)
My trusty Mk6 Jumbo has been all over the UK and a fair bit of Europe on race support duties, and it's getting quite knackered now.

So, I am after replacing it with a Mk7 3.2 200ps, because I fancy something with enough grunt to get up hills without shifting down to 2nd gear. And 200+bhp in a van sounds like a lot of fun!

I've had a look around on ebay, autotrader etc and it seems these vans are pretty hard to come by. Any leads out there would be much appreciated. I'm not even sure what year these vans were available, I can see they started production in 2008, no idea how long for tho.

Thanks
Andy

They were available until Euro 4 finished, (about 2011) They couldn't, or wouldn't, produce one in Euro5 :(

They were about 4years AFAIK they stopped when Euro5 vans arrived.

They are like rocking horse poop, but your best bet is to keep trawling eBay autotrader etc regularly. And you've got to be quick!

I got mine by chance, having looked on a Saturday, then talking with another member on here the Sunday and said I hadn't seen any for a while, he said there's one there now.
Check and right enough, calls first thing Monday paid deposit Monday avo, picked it up Thursday. The seller had got it through the trade and reckoned he'd had more interest in that van than anything else he'd had and didn't realise what it was like or why untill he picked it up and drove it (though you take anything a trader tells you with a pinch of salt, he seamed genuinely surprised and impressed when driving it).

They are tending to have moon miles on them now but with care they do fine as most have been motorway cruisers.

If you do find one you'll enjoy it, I know I have! I was keeping an eye out for around a year before going mine though. They are out there!

I was looking for a 3.2 Jumbo, but a 2.4 140 came along at a price I couldn't refuse i.e. V cheap.

It's plenty capable, amd only very occasionally runs out of grunt - there's a 10Km climb in Germany it won't accelerate up - it even happily pulls up the climb on the A153 on the way to Cadwell with a load of bikes and kit.

Happily cruises at 80-85 with a bit left for Autobahn overtaking when needed.

Hi Jim
Just out of interest, what rpm are you cruising at doing 80mph in the jumbo?

Mine has the 3.7 diff in it. 80 is ~ 2800. 60 - 2000ish, 70 - 2400ish. It has a Vantuner Power/Economy map and pulls to about 95 where it tails off.

On the flat cruising at 80-85 it does high 400s-500 per tank, throw in a few big hills or give it the hoof and it drops to mid 400s. This is with 6-8 dirtbikes, riding kit for 10 days, and 3 in the cab. Couple of 250GPs and associated crash spares and it doesn't even notice.

I'm tempted by a 3.58 diff to give it longer legs and too make 1st taller.

Thanks Jim
Mine's got quite a high ratio diff in it, so cruising feels most comfortable at 50mph. 60mph is just about the max and even then it's revving just under 3k.

My 125ps Mk6 had the 4.63 diff, 70 was ~ 3000. The Mk7 is so much more refined.
