Cheers Rover that would exsplaine why no matter how hard I try I find so few of these.
Would the High top roof just off been taking of a newer transit or custome made?

I cant honestly remember who did the conversions on them but all the ones I have seen have been the same so I assume they were made to order.

Would it be straight forward to take hightop of a moden van and put it on a Mk 1?

sheldon was a hightop company, and now a mk5 hightop wont fit on a mk1!

Why not just have the whole splinter? or here is a crazy idea, buy a mk3/4/5 Hi top Transit. Built as standard that way. Parts are available still. Some of the mk3/4s are less rusty than a mk1/2, you get a reliable diesel engine as standard in most vans which is a nice lump to do simple stuff with.
The mk3/4/5 is a better van than a splinter (personal opinion), cheaper to run and maintain, possibly more welding needed but you're use to that already.
