The fruther you go back, the more likley you are going to find petrol. Most Mk2/3/4 diesel ambies you find are going to have been conversions. Turbos may have been original, but early on in their service the first turbo diesels had problems so were not as common as the petrol.
Think about getting a petrol and converting it.
