Early transit camper wanted! mk1/mk2

Hello!

I've had a few campervans (VW's and a Bedford CF250) and went to see a mk2 ford transit coachbuilt (its listed on ebay at the moment!) the other day - i fell in love (unfortunately, not with THAT one).

So! Im looking out for a mk1 or mk2 ford transit - preferably coachbuilt as i do a lot of wild camping. But im open to looking at ones with poptops too
Would be good with a long MOT and not too many rust issues. A diesel is a bit more attractive to me than petrol. I have the money ready and waiting, for the right one.
Im checking ebay and gumtree every day - and some other classic car sites.

Does anyone have one that matches my needs? Forgot to say, im in Hastings, East Sussex..

Hi BigNeil, ive been going on ebay about 4 times a day, gumtree, classic campers and preloved. Ive even bought Caravan and Motorhome Mart (or something like that!).....
But no luck - everything i see the other side of the country!

I think i will have to widen my search..
Im just a bit hesitant as although id jump to get on a train and travel across to pick a van up, i wouldnt know what condition it was in and im only good at basic mechanics - i roughly know where to look for rust, leaks, water discolouration and things like that - id worry that id travel hundreds of miles to find id break down on the way home

Ive just seen a few on ebay though, so im smiling again!

It's worth asking on here if a member who's close to the camper you are thinking about buying would go and have a look. Any excuse to have a look at a Mk2, if you see one round my way!

Thanks for your suggestions...
I was away for the weekend and missed the beige one, even though I was watching it !
Ive got my eye on one thats in Kent on Ebay, so its only about an hour from me - the guys going to MOT it in Wednesday - its pretty basic inside and out, but i dont mind that.
If it gets through its MOT then I'll view it. I cant wait!!!
The pictures he shows are really naff, so i cant really get an idea of what it looks like. I can see that the passenger door needs attention, or ideally replacing.

Thanks Luke - no, i dont seem to be having a lot of luck, but youre right, i have to feel like its the right one if im going to be using it a lot..also, its for the past few years ive had a campervan thats been my only vehicle, so i need something that i can definately rely on
