Tourneo GLX mk5 8 seater - NO LONGER REQD.

Postby Luke » Wed Nov 19, 2008 1:18 am

I'm not in a major rush but i'm on the look out for a new van and i want a mk5 Tourneo GLX 8 seater :D

It MUST be an 8 seater and it must be a GLX - i want one with all the toys 8) but not fussed if its got air con or not i think it was only an option :?

I'm after one at the bottom end of the market MOT failure etc. i dont care about the body condition (looking for a project  ) or the colour it will be getting a full respray - but i dont want one thats been bodged full of filler and crappy repairs - dont mind rusty wings arches so long as they are untouched and rusty

i'd prefer a Di but consider a petrol if it was cheap enough :D

like i say i'm not in a rush but if the right one turns up cash waiting and i'd buy it tomorrow :!:

not too far from Rotherham either :)

if anyones got anything let me know - i'm checking ebay etc. :D

There''s a couple of 9-seaters on ebay - perhaps swap the double for a single front seat? (one's LPG)

LPG one
A nice welding job

i'm watching the blue Di one and it's the sort of condition i'd be looking at, but it's a bit far really and i want an origanal 8 seater - it's down to the class it falls into not sure if a modified 9 seater will be the same :?

the LPG one is too nice for the plans ive got i might aswell start with a rough one :D

well basically i got my mk4 daily driver a few years back just to put me on till i found a good mk6, but ive got attached to it, i like the way the mk3/4/5's look and drive so i dont want a mk6 anymore, but the mk4 is looking rough round the edges so i was gonna strip it and replace all the wings arches etc. and give it a complete overhall basically cut out any rot and weld new metal in so i'd have a complete rust free van waxoiled and undersealed - to last me a long time and look the part :) but then i thought if i'm gonna do all that i might aswell start with a GLX spec tourneo and an 8 seater so other people can drive it, i'd weld in van side panels to get rid of the rear 2 windows and also stuff like 17" alloys and wide arches, spoilers etc. something along the lines of arctic warrier 8) but with a Di engine
i've got quite a few other projects to do 1st (but i'm getting there) so i'd just run it round as a standard for a year or 2 1st :D

sounds interesting, i bought my GLX cos it had all the toys and meant i didn't have to keep adding to it, mines an 8 seater and i was thinking of getting the double front seat but have now changed my mind as the gap between the seats means i can walk into the back without getting out of the van, i'm keeping my windows as it's a camper, mines got twin air con (front and back) but i have never used it, just on the lookout for some decals to put down the sides as some ba--ard keyed it all down the side and decals would cover the scratches (cheaper than a respray).
