As long as its not a nail anything will do Its to tow my mini speed hillclimb car, Side door would be good & maybe extra seats, Its all down to condition. Jim

If you are going to be towing, may I suggest opting for something like a 150 or 190?

Or, have you thought about a crewcab beavertail/recovery wagon?

Ive got a Brian James Mino trailer for the car & tyres, My old LDV is starting to smoke so its time for a change, The LDV is a twin axel so its class 7 for mots that a pain so if a smilie came up with a Std class for the mot it would be better. The van is for taking spares, tools, tent, cooking gear, It would be good if it had seats or a bed in the back but thats asking too much. I asked for a diesel but if a good petrol came along I might be interested which is better? Jim

Diesel for towing - much more torque. Don't bother with petrol unless you have a bottomless wallet.

As for MOT, my 190 is a Class 7 and that's SRW. I thought all Transits would be Class 7 though because of the weight. I've owned a dozen or so different Transits and they have all been Class 7 MOT, even a MK6 SWB T230.

Ideally, you need something with a 4.63 or 5.14 diff ratio for towing. The 5.14 will have a lower top speed but you will be restricted to 60mph on the motorway anyway. If you can find a 4.63, this will give you a more comfortable ride at speed (the revs will be lower). I have the 5.14 diff on mine and it will sit at an indicated 70mph all day without too much noise (the actual speed according to twat nav is 62mph).

I have a very nice Smillie for sale it would be ideal for what you are looking for in excellent condition just pasted its Mot 2 weeks ago will have 6 months tax the van has never been welded and better still it only has 74k on the clock you will not be disappointed and its a diesel.

What kind of price are you willing to pay?
How many seats do you require?
Is 117,000 miles too many?
Do you want a DI or turbo diesel?
Do you need a towbar already fitted?
Do you like Alloy wheels fitted ?

Only Transits between 3001 kgMGW and 3500kgMGW are class 7 All others are the normal (class4?) the same as a car

Oh and what is a Transit MK6 230? Never heard of that before
