WANTED! Automatic Transit £1000 offered!

I’m looking to buy my first Transit at the end of January to replace my old Baywindow. I am willing to travel to anywhere in the UK for the right van. I am offering a holding deposit of £150 in return for a receipt and care of the van, with an understanding that the remainder will be paid in full on collection. I am offering £1000 for the right van. I cannot pay any more and will only pay less if the RAC guy tells me too.

I am looking for a:

• MK3/4/5
• LWB Panel Van
• Semi high roof
• Automatic Transmission
• No Bulkhead or walkthrough
• No EPIC
• Running a 70/76ps or 85/100ps
• 6 months tax and as much of a 12 month MOT as possible

I would prefer less than 100k miles and power steering, but I will accept anything up to 150k as long as full history, proof of regular services is provided and the Van isn’t burning oil and has no mechanical faults.

Economy and bullet-proof reliability is top of my list, hence the choice’s in engines, if you are aware off a better engine for my needs I would appreciate the advice; the van will only ever carry my surfboards, my dog, the girlfriend, our camping gear and me when we go away. I don’t intend to convert it, as I will need to back to carry surfboard blanks and customers boards.

I don’t mind a tatty cab as long as its not rotten or damp, and from a heavy smoker or builder. I don’t mind a few dents or scrapes, as long as the dents aren’t so large that I have to replace the panel (dented doors are fine as eBay is cheap!) and as long as there is no welding needed ill be happy, really I am looking for a solid daily driver/project that I can slowly bring back over the next couple of years.

If you have a Transit that fits my requirements and budget and are willing to hold on to it until the end of January for me then please say hi :D

Thanks!

OK, here we go;
If you are very lucky (or unlucky, as the case may be) you might find one of those ex export MK3s with the twin side loaders a 70PS Di and autobox :|

MK4 Di s were not made for very long and were available with the 80PS Di with autobox :)

ALL MK5s with an autobox were 85PS TDI (turbo diesel Di) and as they were the turbo engine, came with the EPIC pump too :!:

So it looks like your stuck with the 80PS Di MK4 :?:

And all bulkheads are removable

Well he could make up his own drivetrain
100PS motor with the Bosch mechanical pump and fit a MK4 box to it

Nothing :!:
Absolutely nothing :!:

People don't like being told their timing belt is overdue by way of a red lamp in the dashboard glowing and thus having reduced power until it's done

That's the number one and most common problem :!:

Garages can't read the fault codes on these without the correct equipment and simply blame the pump
Pump gets sent off for reconditioning, "mechanic" refits with new belt and hey ho, everything is working again

Yeah i've seen that one and contacted the seller soon as it was listed, but i discounted it because of the windows, my surfboards arent covered under any insurance if they are visable, i found that out the hard way last summer  , and its a bit hard to hide boards of ten feet in lenngth when the sides of the van are all glass :? but thanks for posting it, thats definatly the sort of thing im after, a good rolling project

and no worries about the post, i need to be a little less sensative anyways  just hit a nerve as i have been to other forums asking for advice on vans only to be laugthed at, i realize im looking for something hard to find, im just not a welder and i need to be able to do as much of the work as possible myself in order to keep the costs down :!: :?:
