Acetone

I ve done a search for acetone through the forum........why mix it with your diesel? somebody posted that it breaks the surface tension of the diesel.....What benifit do you get from doing this

we used to use this in the aircraft maintenance game to clean grease and oil off components before final assembly. if i remember, it is actually oil based.

I seem to remember a posting (maybe not here)
about adding acetone to the fuel & getting extra-ordinary
fuel consumption improvements. It was something silly like 100cc
of acetone (£1 from the chemist) per tankful and getting a 10mpg improvement.
Like all these claims finally no firm conclusion was reached!

when used in petrol or deisel it breaks the surface tension and this makes the injected droplets smaller so when it burns it does it better
i use it in my cars and get around 20 % better mpg (i went from 18 to 22 in town with a granny 2 L auto ) for the use of 50 cc to 20 litres of petrol , a mate is using it in his van and gets aound 18% better and it starts easyer
( one of them funny german transit clones i have and he gets a much smoother running engine too)

£1 from the chemist, trouble is alot of nail polish removers no longer have acetone in them.

to try it get from chemists orshops its as said nail varnish remover
for long tern use a paint shop supply house should have it by the gall tin for removing wax and silicon on cars before they get painted


btw you need nail V remover for oily nail varnish to have acetone in it

have just found a bottle does it matter about the other stuff thats in the nail polish remover?? ie colouring and how much should i put in when i fill up

i use in old money
2fluid oz to 10 gallons you can go a bit stronger with no harm but it does not do anything so its just a waste
