RUSSIAN TRANSIT !?

The Russians were so impressed with the Mk3 Transit, they built their own, apparently an almost exact copy. Called the GAZ Gazelle, available in different wheelbases, body types etc just like the real thing. Millions have been built, extremely popular vans. 8)

Well, its got to be a bit different or they infringe copyright  & I just noticed, even in this publicity still, the front bumper seems to be hanging off  but for about 10% the cost of a new Transit, a new Gazelle represents excellent value for money Sir.

Just a shame they didn't copy the Mk1 eh

Erm, interesting. The mirrors look like a cross between the Mk2 and the Mk3 mirrors.

That 'doesnt look quite right' front looks to me like a 'parts bin' job belonging to one of their cars, the GAZ 3110 which is the big Chevy Impala/Vauxhall Cresta-like saloon you see on all the news reports and has been in production since the 60's with various facelifts. Anyone thrilled by such data should rush out and order their copy of EAST EUROPEAN CARS by Julian Nowill , Sutton Publishing ISBN 0-7509-2369-5

I was just going to say the same thing as tranorak, the front grille and lights look like those from a volga saloon.apart from that it's a direct transit copy I reckon. It wouldnt be the first time ford has flogged tooling to the russians
