Front door lock problem

Postby sc_BK » Sun Dec 24, 2006 3:49 pm

Ever since I've bought the van turning the key in the drivers side cylinder didn't do anything, so I was just locking it from the inside. Finally got round to getting a set of locks (needed one for the back door). Took the drivers trim off and swapped cylinders, but turning the key still doesn't do anything! :x

Obivously somethings not connecting right somewhere, anyone got any ideas as where the fault is?

Just looking at the back of the passengers side (it works) and I can't physically see any difference between it and the drivers :?

MK6s boast 'lock in latch' for security reasons :D

Don't you have remote central locking :?:

Very few left the factory with locks in them (exept the drivers door) :!:

Have you tried fitting the barrel in the 'unlocked' and 'locked' state :?:

Maybe this ones for Nighthawk :?: :D

Got remote central locking but none of it works!

Just out of interest what does "lock in latch" mean?

could be a duff catch - BMW's with this type of system seem plagued with it - as said just use the fob :D

Means there's no rod for the pikeys to pull on when trying to break into your van and also makes the lock more secure than ever as it's housed in a metal jacket :D (the latching mehanism)
