cliynder head off jobs?

hi all, is there any other jobs that would be worth doing while iv got the cylinder head off, its been removed so i can get a broken injector out the head, iv got a new head gasket and bolts for when i put it back on, :?: as ever your info is most welcome thanks..

I take it you've removed the inlet manifold? Might aswell give that a damn good clean inside and blank your EGR valve at the same time. You could also decat it by smacking the inside out the cat? As the exhaust manifold would've come off too. I can't think of anything to do with cylinder head apart from clean it.

hi gt, would taken the insides of the cat out not make it fail on the mot test? dont know about diesels as this is the first diesel engine iv had lol, as for the egr il clean it up and iv seen those plate things on ebay for blanking it off so il try get one, thanks for the info.. :)

I would also remove all valves & fit new valve stem oil seals & re-seat the valves :wink:

Also fit new glow plugs.

Nope diesels don't get tested on CO2 emmisions they get a smoke test instead. The cat is there to adhere to EU regulations about every car after a certain year being fitted with one. That's why you smash the inerds out so it still looks like you've got one ;)

Basically clean the inlet and exhaust openings on the head and the inside of the whole inlet. They are the quicker jobs. But as has been said renewing valves and bits would definitely be preferable seeing as the head is off.

A job usually over looked is the 4 small core plugs in the head, if they let by they are a real pain to do when the head is on, while its off check them and or renew. found out the hard way myself.

so what good dos it do smashing out the cat inserts ,, surely the output of the fumes will be higher ????? :?:
