Well one step closer, got a set of brand new drill bits off Dad, and my battery drill is on charge now so very soon ill get these friggin seats bolted down!!

back to 5cylinder running again on fri/sat. really dont wanna have to take head off but poss migh get away with just pullin off the off side rocker and seeing whats making the tapping/knocking ...cu##... defo down on power and sluggish... still sh*t happens ...

off to look for seat belts now...

Mate get some dewalt HSS bits would have flown through that. They have a little tip before you get to full diameter and they fly though steel, iron, even concrete without being blunt! Love them!!

just been out, got all 8 pilot holes drilled in 5mm, opened up 7 of em to 8mm, fkin battery dies on last opening... friggin typical...

on the plus side i been well lucky with the positioning of legs on seat, the holes are clear of chassis AND didnt make extra breathers in fuel tank too
will take n post pix tomo

If i remember ill photo the underside of the van showing the 8 white zip ties shoved thru the holes to show where they are, just need to open up one to 8mm as the friggin drill died last attempt, then i can get em bolted down... just need 4 small bits of 2 or 3 mm plate to drill out to go on underside of van floor to stop the bolts pullin thru.

did buy a load of big washers but not sure if theyll be sufficient, so ill keep looking out til then!!!

Hiya Rob.Have a look in the Screwfix book for Builders Metalwork,washers and plates.Might help you out.

EDIT just looked, found the sort of stuff i need in 2.5 or 3mm thick, exactly what i used to support a MAF meter on my beloved 316i!

Touch! See a builder mate of mine yesterday, he give me a load of off cut metal plate about 2 or 3 mm thick. Got loads. Only need a few inches so I got lots of spare to play with.
Needs cutting and drilling but might get the chance to do it today if I'm lucky...

Got bolts and everything bar away belts but enough to be going on with!

If there's time ill chop the bulkhead too!

Wahoo six out of eight bolts in place just need nuts on em and get the last two bolts fully thru the floor.
Just bit tight fit should have opened the holes out a few more mm.
Day off tomo Fri and Sat so it should get done this week!
