this could well have done irrepairable damage to the injection pump the correct fuel also acts as a pump lubricant and the pumps are designed with this in mind - when you start introducing any old fuel to it, it protests by breaking in a costly fashion
by any old fuel I'm not just taliking about the rubbish thats been fed to this van I'm including veg oil and biodiesel - it's rubbish and causes the owners of late diesels, particularly high pressure diesels (CDI's HDI's TDCI's etc) thousands of pounds when they go wrong
the decision is yours

pictishpunkgirl wrote:This is Smooth Hound on Pictish Punks log in, I would hope that I could ask what I choose to on Transit talk, as long as it is about transits or the running of them and so forth, If you think you are to wise for all this wasted talk then go and talk to someone else, I started this thread because there was something i wanted to know. so if your not interested in this thread other than to make out how wise you are, or stupid I am then please go and have a look at another thread where your input might be welcome.

Smooth Hound wrote:It's aimed at motorwise because, contrary to what he said - it's not 'my decision'. The question wasn't about saving money or using central heating oil myself- it was to see whether the guy in question ( whom my son listens to when it comes to vehicles) is a bullsh***er or not. I use diesel in my Transit so i'm not trying to save money or encourage anyone else to, i'm merely trying to find out if such a thing is possible so I know whether my son's being wound up or not.
What i'm angry about is that having asked a simple question, motorwise has made a wrong assumption for starters & you, Gemini, joined in with your comment about saving money - neither of which are anything to do with my original question. I'm grateful for your opinions that it's possible but a bad idea but don't appreciate your making assumptions about me or making sarcastic comments about using diesel, which I do anyway.
Maybe it wasn't directed at me personally- perhaps it was directed at the guy who claims to be doing it so apologies if i'm a bit over sensitive, but that's what it looked like with the last comment that 'it's your decision'.

carry out some research on the internet (good old google helps) have an open mind, experiment, be prepared to change fuel filters a little more regularly if using reclaimed oil, but dont be put off by all the scaremongering (sp?!)
