Looking good, How much carpet have you used to do the van, Ive done my roof and seat base but need to order more carpet and glue.
Are you using MDF to make the cupboards and just painting it ?? What thickness is it.

Cheers.

Honey Monster,

We've used 10 metres of carpet, so 20 square metres, as it's 2 metres wide. Used a lot more than the 10 tins of glue that it came with, must be putting it on a bit thick

Yes, unit fronts and doors are painted 12mm MDF. Not as light as the posh vohringer type boards, but it's cheap and easy to work. Also doesn't need edging, just shape with the router. Inside the units the shelves and framework are made out of all sorts of random timber, ply and particle boards. Basically whatever I've got lying around the garage.

Hoping to get a start on the seat/bed framework tomorrow :)

Started on the seat/bed framework. Quite surprised how much space there still is to move around with this L shaped layout.
As a bed will be around 1830x1300mm, with a 100mm or so extra foot space behind the seats, so shouldn't feel much smaller than a full sized double :D

Looking good!
How are you going to have the rest of the bed frame pull out?

It's going to be interleaved slats that slide out. Have a look at this thread viewtopic.php?f=58&t=124374
there are a few pics of the way it works.

People do use it as a kids bunk, but may be a bit snug for a teenager. Usually have to build it out to give a bit more space.
Don't know the exact measurements, I'll check tomorrow.

Bezzabsa,
size when lined is around 1470 x 680, or around 4'10" x 2'2" in old money. So I guess kids up to around 10 or 12 would be OK.

Bit of work on the bed

And added a panel as a partition from the kitchen area and as a support for the cushions

Image

Then got a start on the gas locker, just need to cut a big hole in the bottom of the van now for a dropout and fit a door

Couple of little bits done,
Made the front for the second overhead locker

Image

Fitted some cheap Ebay LEDs from China. Not the best quality things in the world, but for 7 quid including postage for the 2, they will do for now

Image
Quickly rigged up some old curtains to see how well they work and am quite impressed with the light. Camera doesn't do it justice, but they are bright enough to easily read by, without being too bright.

Actually quite enjoy putting the carpet on flat bits, curved bits however, produce the odd stressful moment
Curtains are some old ones scrounged off my mum. Basically ran out of money now, so having to beg borrow and steal bits wherever we can :(
They are put up with cheap plastic curtain track which is horrible, but will do for now and can easily be replaced with something nicer when we can afford it.
Starting to come together though.
