Occasional power loss problem!

Postby Lambulance » Tue May 14, 2013 9:27 am

Hi all,the usually smooth and happy 2.5 'banana',now and again loses power and acts as though its only firing on 3 cylinders,it will tick over, but is very rough.Usually, when my destination is reached, once the engine is stopped and left for a while the problem dissapears, but recently it has persisted until it 'clears' itself halfway through the journey home.
There is no indication of water in the fuel filter, all the injector pipes are dry,so i assume no leakage there.
I have also used injector cleaner in the fuel for the past week or so,any ideas on solving the problem?? 8)

Sounds like it's getting air over 1 of the injectors. Usual cause is an air leak in the supply side fuel lines.

Have you done the leak-off mod?

Almost certainly the leak off mod. My banana ain't been done yet, just the same, at the end of a long run. I carry a spanner to bleed No 1 injector, cures it.

Hi all, went to attempt the 'leak off mod' on the weekend, looks as though its already been done!,the pipe from the pump goes to the injector nearest the front of the van,and the blank is on the injector nearest the back,so it looks as though i have a different problem :(

Hi, I had similar problem a few years back. it turned out to be one faulty injector. try slackening injector pipes , one at a time to find faulty one.
