New clutch and another engine but wont go into gear

Postby Warren D » Mon Apr 29, 2013 9:17 pm

Last week I had an engine out of another transit, fitted in my transit and also a brand new clutch. The new engine is great but after a day or so the van started getting harder to get into reverse, first and second gear. Today I couldn't get it into reverse, first, second, third or fourth. Fifth was ok. I switched off the engine and was able to get it into any gear while switched off so I put it in second and started it up but it started to creep along even while I had the clutch to the floor.
What do you think is going on?

I'm speaking to them tomorrow. I just wanted to find out as much about it as I can before I speak to them. I'm in Spain and there's plenty of people down here will have you over as quick as a shot if they think you don't understand what is going on.

OK, it turns out that the engine is from a LDV Convoy. Can my clutch be altered to fit this? I have seen a clutch kit for a Ford Transit 2.5 diesel, LDV Convoy on ebay. Is this what I need?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0308235015

The engines are the same...

Its common for the clutch forks (assuming yours is a manual) to fracture and stop working (its obvious if you get underneath and look, whilst an assistant operates the clutch
