Refurb carb kit for a mk2 2.0 1981

Postby Riky » Wed May 15, 2013 12:30 pm

I am after a refurb kit for my carb, I am trying to keep it all original so would like to refurb instead of replace. If any knows of a good place for spares it would be appreciated.

Also can any one recommend some Transit clubs to join and info on shows etc.

Cheers.

You are at the best site here Riky.
The others don't compare. :)

Depends what you mean by re-furb.

Is your spindle loose so you want to replace it, or are you looking for gaskets and jets?

Thanks for the reply mb4ever, I am looking to strip the carb down completely and refurb to new. I am really after a complete kit of gaskets, rings and jets if possible.

The only reason I know to completely re-furb a carb is because the choke spindle is loose in the carb body Riky, and that's a job and a half.

If your spindle is loose, I suggest you take Neil's advice and get an exchange carb.

Apart from that, I just reckon to give them a bit of a clean, new gaskets, and new parts for the accelerator pump.
Plus reseat the valve that's operated by the float with a gently tap on it's end.

After that, I reckon to fine tune the float level to suit.

Have you considered taking photographs at each stage as you strip your carb Riky?

Have you heard of ultrasonic cleaners Riky?
I've no experience of them, but I understand that they clean carbs pretty well.
These are all completed listing to show what they sell for.

Anyone tried one please :?:

There seem to be some 2nd hand bargains on ebay.
