The only reason I know to completely re-furb a carb is because the choke spindle is loose in the carb body Riky, and that's a job and a half.
If your spindle is loose, I suggest you take Neil's advice and get an exchange carb.
Apart from that, I just reckon to give them a bit of a clean, new gaskets, and new parts for the accelerator pump.
Plus reseat the valve that's operated by the float with a gently tap on it's end.
After that, I reckon to fine tune the float level to suit.
