Ive often come on this site for info on many things transit related so i hope someone can help. I am trying to locate a pair of engine mounts for my 85 transit recovery truck ive decided to put the pinto back in. Ive tried every srapyard within 50mile of me (DERBY) its the saddle that i need ive got the the mounts on the pinto engine so dont need them. I have even thought of making a pair but need dimensions but more importantly the angle where the donuts sit in the mount.
Any help would be greatly recieved
Cheers in advance steve
I'm not sure what you mean by a saddle Stevie.
I think the engine is held up by two rectangular steel pillars that come up at and angle from the chassis, however: -
The angle where the donut mounts on the saddle is the same as the angle where it mounts on the engine.
Or, more precisely, it's the reciprocal.
If you cut and drill the relevant plates and bolt them to the mounts,
bolt the mount to the engine,
then hang the engine where you want it
I reckon you should be able to fabricate the rest to fit easily enough.
Since the mounts are rubber, you won't need to line up perfectly.
Best to get the front of the engine in the middle though.
