Tools stolen and van stolen (Transit Mk7) Please Read

Hi All

Just to let you know this MK7 theft is still taking place my MK7 transit sport 60 plate
Was stolen last night at 11.57 my neighbours CCTV saw a car pull up just infront of my drive
As a guy got out walked straight up to my van opened the drivers door and drove away in less than one minute
And the van was defiantly locked twice (deadlocked).

Everything from tools, to customers keys, 4k worth of sound system, drawings the lot all gone.
It was mint condition as I loved it more than my Audi R8. To top it off my fleet insurance will probably
Double ill get penalised for being a victim and a crappy payment
Of 11k.

I'm heart broken. Anyone with a MK7 I recommend getting after market alarm
and putting a security cover over the OBD port as it must be how they are
Getting around the immobiliser.

Sorry to hear this Where are you located if you don't mind me asking ? Anyone local to you might be able to be vigilant I've made some adjustments to my vans plus my sport has a disclok, cumbersome thing but I hope it's a deterrent !

just found out my cousin who lives in Stanford le hope area had his transit van mk 7 stolen on the night of 10th july dead locked and alarmed. think ill be going out to get door lock changed today and possibly a obd lock. already got an use a foot peddle lock but im getting worried mine could soon be the next victim

Hmm...Love the hidden siren idea, used to have similar on an old car of mine - great until you get in one morning at 3am and forget ...soon woke me up

I'd love to see the 220volt idea in action if only to see their face as the laptop got roasted ...

anyone remember those inline fuse things you fitted to the positive terminal? cuts power to everything but has a 3 amp fuse so alarm and clock still work - but if you try and start it 'POP'
simple but effective..plus if u have an analogue clock you know what time they tried to nick it!!

Think the solution is multi fold
move the obd plug, interior alarm, Non factory alarm/immobiliser, lock guards (or even keyless entry)
but as stated before - if they want it, they'll take it!!!
Just hope Ford admit there is a problem and offer a retrofit solution!!!

My mate was an electronics whizz, he electrified the chassis to give any chancer the shock of his life came out one morning to find every panel kicked in so doesn't always work.

My first post on this forum, just been searching something else but came across this.
I am a auto electrician of 25 year, I myself like the transit sport/ looks/ power etc, but been reading some of the posts about thefts of them.
If you own one of these or any mk 7 you really do need better security on it, I have been out to many of these vans due to break ins, where all there tools have been stolen, (alarm and no exterior visible damage and been able to open side and rear doors) with no alarm trigger.
If you do own one of these vans they can be stolen without absolute no damage what so ever gaining access inside, then starting it up and driving off in about 1-2 min.
If ford still thinks there isn't a problem with the security system on these vans that's because there not interested and they can just sell you another van.
Just been on eBay tonight and somebody is selling all the doors of blue sport with no damage, where did they come from,did they fall out of the sky!!
If I had one of these vans I would:
Fit a decent battery back up alarm with extra inside siren. Pager to phone on alarm trigger.
Change the front locks( so this is different to the ignition) or complete delock.
Fit a security plate( which are on eBay) to protect the wires near rear o/s light.
Wire in a hidden cut of switch so the obd socket cannot be used.
I would not sleep at night without doing something, especially when you have tools and stuff in them.
