When I fitted steering column from 2010 connect, it was missing the steering lock assembly (bolts into place with 2 shear bolts)

As a stop gap I fitted one from a mk2 Focus with flip key remote fob, which is a perfect fit. Only downside is ignition barrel uses a flat key instead of the normal tibbe key.
Unfortunately the Tibbe key barrel with not fit Focus mk2 steering lock assembly, barrel's too short.

This is the Focus mk2 steering lock assembly I used as a stop gap

Image

Manage to get proper one from a 2009 connect & 2 new shears bolts as shown below

Image

Image

With both together main body as the same except at ignition barrel end.

Image

Bolt into place under steering column with 2 new shear bolts. Tighten until heads shear off.

Transceiver for immobilser fits both lock assembies, simply a matter of unclipping it from one & clip it onto other

Now I have 1 key that operates all locks :D

More work done.

Fitted 2009 onwards drivers seatbelt, RCM (Air bag module) & Wiring loom section for seatbelt pretensioner to RCM

Image

Gearshift assembly refitted along with ESP sensor

Image

Both sections of centre floor console have now been refitted & secured fully via new mounting brakets I added earlier.

Image

If you're wondering where the DLC is, its now in it's proper location just below headlight switch - behind access panel (original location was at bottom of heater control panel - centre console)

Getter there, nearly completed I can see the finish line on the horizon

Yes it did solve the problem

It's common for them to short out, although I would have though it would blow the Fuse for glow plugs (40A fuse in engine bay fuse/relay box).
But instead feed wire was getting really hot & started to melt plastic where feed wire connect to glow plug loom.

(unlike Transit mk 6 feed wire burns out completely - designed to do that as it's an fusable link)

Loved reading this thread. Guttered I've come to the end. Top work. Off topic tho , With regards to the work you have done on the cluster etc. maybe you can shed some light with another thread. Some of us have fitted the top spec mk7 transit instrument cluster and indicator stalk so we get the warnings and mpg etc, however the stalk doesn't/won't control the cluster and the mpg don't work. Can you shed any light?
I WILL GET THIS FEcKER RUNNING!!!

Thanks :D

Not quite to the end yet  8)

As for level 2 instrument clusters for Transit, they are fitted to early mk7's as well. Infact they will fit from 2006 onwards
I will pull full wiring diagrams for them tomorrow

Fitting rear parking sensors ?

I was thinking about fitting a Bosch Park pilot - same kit fitted to my first connect project.

Today I bagged a bargain from breakers yard - Valeo Parking aid kit from a 2009 connect for £20 instead :D

Main module

Image
Image

Rear bumper sensor loom

Image

Rear ABS sensor loom with jumper loom for rear parking sensor loom

Image

Complete with 3 sensors - 4th one had already been robbed, New replacement with holder is on order.

Image

whole kit is simply plug & play & fits connect from 2004-2010

Module plug is normally present on the main dash loom on O/S near headlamp switch - as shown below

Image

Now require a new rear bumper with sensor holes, So current one which is fairly new will be available id anyone wants one

what's the condition of the spade connectors in the loom for the alternator? I know on the cars they tend to spread causing the smart charge not to work.

Fitted parking aid module today.

This is where they are located, mounted to main dash support behind headlight switch.
