indicators stay on solid

Postby Jamysumm » Sat Dec 28, 2013 11:16 pm

Mk6 2.4 115 ps jumbo, having a slight issue with directional indicators, when you use the stalk the lights illuminate but do not flash . That hazard light work perfect, checked all fuses all fine , took rear lights out cleaned the connectors and refitted covered them in white grease as well to stop more water penetration , so im now stumped as its late and I can't think well at this time of night. Flasher unit ? Just really seeing if any other guys had this problem or if theres any other ideas

Have you checked/substituted the little relays under the header tank?

Did it have a towbar?

Nope not checked them , but as far as I could see from wiring diagrams the hazards and directional indicators work off the same relays . Unless im wrong ?

And no , no towbar has ever been fitted

They have one flasher unit for indicators/hazards which prob still is the problem, its above the brake pedal, just because hazards work doesn't mean its still OK,try swapping it with a good one just to try before you buy one,the two relays are just to switch the system on,

The flasher unit is two units in one, that's why hazzards work and indicators dont. Exactly the same thing happened to mine. Replacement units are only available from Ford and are fecking expensive, I modded mine to work with an old three pin unit.

I have the same issue, hazards work indicators sporadically swap between blinking and solid. How do I clean the old unit and, if need be, where's the best place to source a new unit before my service?
