Benefits of fitting turbo

Got my new Turbo and there is a difference on the induction outlet , AS the Haynes manual is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard what does this assembly do and do I need it

Hi mate, looks from the pics that the 'old' unit had the vacuume opperated 'butterfly', but you don't need that
The 'butterfly' was used to create a vacuume to opperate the EGR, so you don't need that!

Just connect the 'outlet scroll' to the inlet manifold with silicone hose.
It would be possible to 'spin' the 'scroll' if necessary but it is unclear from the pictures if this is required.

Had a day off work today and finally got the rest of the engine bits in place and all fired up , thanks to everyone for there help and advice

I have fitted an MBC ( manual boost control) this allows you to pre set the boost

Mine controls the wastegate/boost via the gold coloured diaphram 'pot' you can see in pic 2 in the post at the top of this page. It's connected to the output duct of the turbo and opens the wastegate when boost pressure overcomes the preload of a spring.

It's adjustable by changing the 'length' of the connecting rod - changes spring preload.
