Going to do loads of measurements off of the old original gearbox tomorrow as have all the original bits and bobs and gearbox and clutch etc, as long as starter lines up ok with ring gear and input shaft locates with clutch then I will be modifying the release arm so as to move the bearing forward.
To be continued..............................................

Well have took some measurements:

Seems the splines on gearbox connect with the clutch pressure plate ok, I think the end of the gearbox shaft doesn`t quite reach the spigot bearing in the back of the engine though, starter motor engages with ring gear ok, so looks like I need to modify the clutch release arm so as to move the release bearing further forward.

On further examination it seems the clutch pressure plate splines start 30mm in from clutch cover fingers, which means the splines on the gearbox input shaft are only sliding into the pressure plate by 14mm, being as the splines on the input shaft are 45mm long, 14mm of contact is not enough, so I am therefore assuming the flywheel I have from the SVO Transit is different / thinner than the car derived flywheel. So maybe I now need a car variant flywheel :(

Seems my flywheel is approx. 30mm thick from front face to rear face: is the car variant 60mm thick from front face to rear face? anyone know :?:

Something has just popped into my head about this , if my memory serves me correctly the input shaft on a type 9 gearbox is longer on the v6 version (capri / granada ) than on the pinto version . This being so I would assume it is the same for the MT75 . Has the V6 /MT75 combo been done before or is this a first ? As I would think you need a box with a longer input . Maybe you, need to get a car MT75 and break it open for the input shaft . Just a thought

V6 / MT75 has been done before (Robbie.Cee) using a kit devised by Tim (dieselhead123) and has been successful although kit was devised using a car version (Granada) of the Essex V6 and so as my Essex is from a MK3 SVO Transit Ambulance there may be differences that were previously unknown. The MT75 gearbox I am using is from a 2.5 Diesel Transit. Not sure by how much the input shaft is longer or shorter on either MT75 box as struggling to locate pictures and info.
Trial and Error :?

Sierra MT75 box has a different bell housing and they are not interchangeable , although as this was attached to the pinto OHC bottom end it would have the same input shaft as the transit MT75 as these boxes fit both DI and petrol pinto

Have noticed a Transit MT75 gearbox for sale on E-Bay and the input shaft protrudes out of the front face of the gearbox more than the 6mm mine does (not sure whether it would be 36mm, but might be:
