Mk7 Parts in backorder?

Postby KiloKilo » Mon Mar 05, 2007 7:18 pm

Just heard from the dealer that the delivery will be delayed by a month (or more). :x
"My" van was build on the 6st of Feb. however it is still standing in the UK as several parts for it are in backorder....
Must say that I find it a bit long that after a month parts are still in backorder. They expect to deliver the van mid or end of April.

Not really sure what to think of it as well because the dealer mentioned a couple of parts that were in backorder. Like the cabin-divider and sveral parts of the dashboard. :?

Any of you able to tell me if this is correct or that it is all BS?
It was as well a suprise to hear it was built in the UK as they told me previously that the "Luxe Multi-Use" was only being build in Turkey.

Your van wont be sat in the UK, I'm just up the road from the factory and they don't store vehicles over here.

..... so BS from the dealer? Or is there a special plant where they alter transits to specifications?

They don't alter Transits, they come off the line done. The dealer will make the odd changes but not major ones.

All options I took from Ford were standard Ford Packs. Some additional features will be added afterwards but not by my Ford dealer.

The fact that they normaly come off the line done kind of contradicts what the dealer told me.... strange :?

What options are you talking about that will be added afterwards?

Navigation/Radio and a camera for reverse parking. But those will be installed by a local company. (on advise from the Ford dealer)

Not even. I will have a local car-entertainment/car-radio/telecom shop install those options. The delear has nothing to do (except a check). Either the options are (should be) done at the Ford factory or after I took delivery of the van.

Well as above all the options that Ford offer are done before the van comes off the production line, that's the idea of a mass production line.

That may well be true if there are bits they are waiting for, kinda depends what bits are on back order. I know that had issues with aircon and alloy wheels.

It was quite a list he mentioned. But we'll see how this developes. Just a shame the backorder is now estimated 2 months after production date.

Just wondering where they have stored the van now since you said they don't have any parked around your corner.

I got a short of an update. There is still no news about a date of delivery. But apperently the problem with the backorder now all is about the dividing wall between the cabin and the rear of all Multi-Use Transits.
Alone from the dealer where I ordered the van 40 Multi-Use or Luxe-Multi-Use are in backorder because of the backorder of that part. As the Multi-Use and Luxe-Multi-Use are quite populair in Belgium I recon the total number for Belgium might be quite high.
Apperently I should have ordered it in the Netherlands as there the van is altered to a (Luxe-)Multi-Use after arriving in the Netherlands. Something to do with the law there. Yet the difference is minimal.
Strange that a mighty company as Ford can't pull some strings to solve such a backorder which has been going on for at least from the 6th of Feb. But might even go back to the beginning of Jan when production of the Multi-Uses were started.

Little update. Went to the dealer today and had a look at the order history. It was indeed build on the 6th of Feb. And has been in Suton for a really long time now. They still have no gate-release date for the van. And therafter it is going to be at least another 2 months according to Ford Belgium. But the can't give any estimate on the gate-release date. Going to wait until the 8th of May.
Isn't there somebody here who works in Suton and can put my van to the front of the line?

But it does look that I won't be having an Mk7. So I am on the look out for a good replacement.
