Nope. The furthest I took the Kangoo was Leeds.
I sold it about 7 months ago though, but to a guy in Rye. Although it's possible he's sold it since. Was quite a distinctive van.

Are you putting arches on to cover the wheels

I've got a nice set of arches from my SJ, which actually fit really well. A friend is making up some steel strips to rivet to the van, to give a lip to attach the arches to.


Got a bit more done today.

Welded up all the holes in the floor from previous owners, and where I had the seats bolted down originally.
Painted the floor.
Lined it with insulation.
Bolted and sealed ply line down.




And fitted my TV. 17" flat screen, 12v system, has phono input for the Head unit, and maybe a PS2/PS3 slimline if I can find one cheap.





I then fitted lino on the floor. Cut an off-cut of carpet out for the boot (for now), and chucked my rug back in.
I also bolted the rear bench down properly, so it's a permanent fixture now. Next job is to start building the furnature.

Got the rear screen juiced up today. I need to get some wires out, and do a bit of soldering to the circuit board of the TV.
All the on switch, and source switches are tucked up at the top at the moment, wires are not long enough to get the button panel down into the units once I fit them, but once units are fitted, they will be fixed up inside the cupboard where the Playstation and CDs will be.




Head unit is epic. Rear screen shows the DVD at all times. Front can be swapped between DVD and Sat-Nav.
You can also make the rear speakers play the DVD constantly while the front speakers mute out when it wants to give Sat-Nav instructions.
Really good bit of kit.

I will also need a 2 or 3 way Phono switch block to go in the units in the back too, so I can swap the rear screen over to the PS, or even a freeview box or similar, as I wont want the ignition on for the head unit to power up, just to watch Tele. All rear electrics will be juiced up via a Leisure battery.

Not a huge update. Started building my sub box today. It will be built over with some more MDF, and then carpeted so the subs wont actually be visible, so I am not worried about them being different colours.

I was thinking of doing similar to a Mk6.But I was was worried about the insurance when they ask any modifications ?? Did you tell them about the extra seats and alloys ??If so did it affect the premium.If made a lot of difference then I wont bother doing the mods,However if it was small extra charge then I will copy yours lol.As it looks good.

I've told my insurance that I am converting it to a 'Motor Caravan', so any individual modifications are now obsolete, they have given me a 12 month window to get it finished, and re-registered as a Motor Caravan. At which point, the insurance will actually go down. My speed limit on A roads will also go up to 70mph.


Today, I built a box for my subs.
It's quite difficult building a box, inside a box. Like a wooden version of origami.










Once I start building the units etc, the wires will all have a neat place to be clipped up and hidden away.

Fired the subs up. The silver one (Cheap make) is knackered. Voice coil is damaged I think as it cant quite cope once I crank the music up to a reasonable volume, it just farts out vibrations. So I've unplugged it, and running on just the one for now.

Hi mate....what are you doing for a bed to get the motor caravan change on the log book...

I started building a bed today.

I made the first frame up out of some scrap wood, just to get an idea of what sort of structure I want, and how high it needs to be etc.







Then I went to B&Q, to buy some proper wood.




And built a proper bed




The loose sheet of narrower wood on top of the bed is the part which will be hinged to the front of the main bed.
Once the seats fold flat, that piece will then flip over, and lay flat across the backs of the seats, making it a full size double bed.

Today I started putting together a cabinet.
Need to cut the cupboard holes yet, and some other odds and sods. But it was nice to get the base work done, so I know what size hob and sink I can start looking for now, etc.

Top is about 400mm wide at to wider point, 350mm at the end by the seats, But there are two batten/top rails under which run along the front and rear edge, these are 25mm each, Meaning I only have a 300mm mounting gap for a sink or hob unit.




Seats in the up position. The side board along the O/S seat, will be carpeted up to the last join, then I will be covering the rest of the work surface in either chequer plate, or galv' steel etc. Or just something which is generally hard wearing, and can withstand a hob being on, and water from the sink etc.
