Mirror unit replacement

Postby wrangleruk2002 » Thu Mar 08, 2007 2:51 pm

Can anyone tell me how to remove and refit a new mirror unit on the latest model Transit. The older models were fixed with three 10mm bolts and its easy as anything to replace. The new model has 1 x 10mm bolt and 2 massive pop rivets!!!!! So, sure, its straightforward to drill the rivets out but how the hell do you get a large rivvet gun head though the small hole in the outer casing trim of the new mirror unit to apply the new rivvets!!!!!!! Someone in the design dept at ford has got a strange sense of humor.......not..........Help if you can.........Wrangler

They are fitted with shear bolts that's why, the idea is to make them harder to steal.

They are not rivets is what I am saying they are shear bolts. You will need to replace thjm with new shear bolts or just normal bolts if you are not worried about them being stolen.
