P0490 egr question

had an issue with my connect,its a 2006 tdci with 123000 miles
reader brought up a code for the maf sensor which was very dirty,cleaned it refitted and cleared the code
at the same time i fitted the egr blanking plate but today on my way home the engine management light was on
scanned it and it comes up with P0490 code and the van is still lumpy and kind of dies on you about 2k same as before

have i done anything wrong,have i fitted the egr plate in the correct place ?

2006 connect. 75 ps 90ps, TDDI or TDCI ?

2006 is the change over year, has it Euro 3 or Euro 4 engine ?
(Euro 4 has a electronic EGR valve)

Does it have round EGR vac controlled or squarish EGR electronic controlled ?


75ps TDCI will be Euro 4

you need to check EGR control motor

Fitting a EGR blanking plate will not solve the problem

Did you fit blanking plate with small hole in the middle or the other type that is complete blank ???

Yep, it cant make it any worse, just make sure you wash \ clean all the metal swarf off, you dont need that being sucked into the engine
