Tyre size ?

I know, but it is dark outside and I forgot to look earlier....

I have a MK6 SWB 1.9 diesel - due for MOT Wednesday, front tyres are down to 2mm, I feel they may get through but will need changing soon after.
What size is standard and where is best place to go or what is a good price to aim for (for two)

There a few sizes that they could be. Also it wont be a 1.9 as they never made a 1.9.

Thought I'd look up tyre prices on etyres.co.uk, and for that size it has 3 speed ratings, C, S, and T. Now from google I can work out S is 111mph and T is 118mph, but no idea what C is

Also it asks whether I want "reinforced, 6 ply or 8 ply tyres"

Is C not for commercial which you should be running on, not car tyres.

Yeah C is for Commercial, which will be 8 ply.

Got though the MOT but I am still aware the tyres are down to 2mm so will change them soon, however only do about 8000 miles a year.
I have had a quote for Falcons at £55 fitted each. seems good to me.

..Please... given my limited van ownership experience...

What would you class as a good tyre within the realms of affordability.

I am aware of the brands but which would be best for noise, handling, wear etc.

Just to bump this old topic, my front left is getting prety worn and i've got a long trip this wed/thur/fri. Went on etyres, booked a day/time, then stuck in my card details, pressed finish, and it just went to a blank page!!
So phoned them up and they said they have no way of telling if the order was placed, but i could do another over the phone and they'd cancel the first one if needs be. So went through all the details again, and they charged me the £65. Then a few hours later I get a call back saying they can't process my order as they don't cover this area!

Ended up going to the local tyre place, only semi-decent thing they had in stock was a Givslad thingie....

if your long trip was to be south of you, could you not have booked into Perth for instance, or further south to get the best value.
