Interesting.
I was thinking more for the rear discs to be honest. The drive flanges are different to those on a drum axle.
If I can get a Mk6 axle for £30, I will buy it now, just to keep aside until the van is ready to fix.
Same as a sliding door, if I can get one cheap enough, I will buy straight away, and just store it until the van can be touched.

Managed to find a side loading door, and an axle for £100 the pair.
Just waiting on insurance to decide the fate of the van now. Hope it goes Cat-C so I can start fixing it.

Well today the van was written off.

BUT, it's good news. It went down as a Cat-C, and It has been valued at £2300, with a salvage / buy-back of £200, meaning I am getting £2.1k and keeping the van.

Bad news, is I cant find a set of 5x120 alloys I like, for sensible money.

That's good money back for a transit mate! I had a woman scrape up the side of my van and bumper and my insurance say they would prob write it off as cat-d and value would be about 1500 ish. I'm still waiting to hear back tho!

I read through the engineers report, and he has valued it based on having leather seats, side bars, alloy wheels, and clean bodywork / metallic paint. I was impressed the the figure too.


Located a side loading door and axle, picking them up next week for £100 the pair.
On the look out for some crewcab windows.

Think I am going to opt for a set of RangeRover 18/19" wheels, or some from an X5.

Picked up door and rear beam.

Well the van was parked up on my drive way for like 5 months, but it appears one of my neighbors have complained to the estate agents and I've had a TORTs notice put on the van saying it will be removed and scrapped within 14 days.




Long and short of it is, I live on a private estate, and apparently in our contracts it states we can not park a vehicle on our drive way which is not TAXed or unroadworthy.
Bloody a***holes!

So, I spent a few hours, working into the night getting my rear axle swapped over.
The hubs on the new axle would not come off of the stub axles, and I don't have any standard Transit wheels to just stick on for the time being, so in order to run my spare BMW wheels, I HAD to get my re-drilled hubs onto the new rear axle/beam.
So I ripped all the brake shoes out, and went at the 4 18mm bolts on each side with a ring spanner. Took ages, and a lot of banging, but got there in the end.
Bolted the beam up to the springs, and then fitted all my original stub axles and hubs up. Luckily the only thing that bent was the beam. Hubs, stub axles and bearings were all good.




And then the next day, drove the old girl to work for a pre-booked MOT.




Tomorrow I am off in on my day off to remove the side loading door, cut out all the damaged sill, and plate it up. I think I am going to fit some ST skirts and arches eventually so not overly bothered about how it looks, as long as it will pass it's MOT.


Almost lot heart in it, but put it on on a facebook van page for sale, and got silly offers like £200.
So I think I will go about getting it back to it's former glory. Once I get the insurance pay out, I will throw a few quit at some lovely wheels and paint work.





P.S, It is FOOOKING terible to drive on rally-X tyres.

I spent today cutting out all the damage on the sills, repaired all the bits and pieces, primed and gone over with a guide coat of blue paint.
I'm now in 2 minds whether to sell it, book it in for a full paint, or just do my best with what I've got, and wrap the lower part of the door in some cool printed vinyl (as I will be putting a window in the top half).

Well I had my Snap-on lights but left all the charging gear at my garage which is 11 miles away!
So Had to steal one of the bed-side lamps out of our spare room.

MOT is today (at 11.30) so will hopefully have an answer as to whether I am going to keep it or flog it.
Because of the sill damage, even repaired, it doesn't look great. I will probably put a Mk6 ST kit on it if I keep it.

Well... She passed the MOT.

Few advisories but nothing major. Will get on with them over the next few weeks.
Time to hunt for some nice wheels.

They are E36 BMW wheels, they are actually 2 pairs (Fronts are different to backs, but they were free and they are my winter/snow wheels).

MOT tester couldn't give two hoots about tyre and wheel load ratings as it's not a Class-7 vehicle. It is tested under Class-4 regulations. Long as all 4 tyres display a tyre size on at least one side of the tyre, they have legal tread, and no damage, cuts etc, then they are fine.

Advisories were the usual corrosion around rear valance, and front inner wings (as it was close to top mounts).
And a rough wheel bearing (Which is being changed as they're all brand new and still under warranty).

The wheels I have my eyes on are very nice (in my opinion).
Wont say much just yet in case I don't end up buying them.


Need to start sorting out the body work. Been offered a Mk7 front end, and really am considering it.
