My door trims arrived in the post from Aldridge Trimming, they are simply beautiful! They have the proper heat moulded seams, and chrome trims. Fit is perfect too, very happy with these :) Next step is to trim the inside in black loop pile carpet, as soon as I can find some!......

Going to be a lovely motor.

a bit of a makeover, it is featuring again on a TV production, and trying to make it look a bit different. Fitted Minilites, and some loud stripes.

Also had the interior carpeted in black loop pile carpet, and made a vinyl engine cover to mimic the door trims. It is much quieter inside now!

I don't!Well at least not all of it. Upholsterer did the carpet and engine cover, ( and added a lot of extra padding to his invoice  ) and signwriter did the stripes this morning. I bolted the wheels on, and since the pic was taken have fitted my NOS "Tex" chrome mirrors, front bumper, and a pair of Cibie Super Oscars. I have also made some nifty little rubber mats for the door steps. Seeing as the original ones are long gone, and fetch silly money, I made my own. I will post some pics later, I am rather happy with those :)

what an awesome van, that sure was some lucky find, its gonna be ace when you have perfected it. in the underbonnet pic the steering column doesent look standard where it comes through the bulkhead. has it got a pas box grafted in too :?:

Yes a PS box has been fitted. That part is quite "creative"! The previous owner fitted a steering column and PS box from an XA Fairmont (same donor car the engine, trans etc came from) After fitting it all in, he realised the steering box worked backwards to the way it needed to. He made a reverser gearbox and fitted that to the end of the steering column, to reverse the direction of rotation! Sounds scary, but actually works okay, and steering ratio is very quick. But I don't really like it, it is a bit cumbersome, and there is a little bit of freeplay in the gearbox that I can't get rid of. The steering box and reverser box flex a bit on their brackets. I have a PS box from a Mk3 Transit that I am going to replace it all with in a similar way you did yours (thanks for the article!)

cheers Terry :) I borrowed them off a friend of mine,Kiwimk2, see here:

viewtopic.php?f=27&t=22214&p=1052370&hilit=kiwi+8#p1045606

as we needed to make the van look different for a different scene in the TV series it is "starring" in. I like the look of them so much I am going to place an order for a set. 8" wide for the front, and I am going to squeeze a 9" under the rear. There is enough room without having to touch the arches, as long as the offset is spot on.
