Yes a PS box has been fitted. That part is quite "creative"! The previous owner fitted a steering column and PS box from an XA Fairmont (same donor car the engine, trans etc came from) After fitting it all in, he realised the steering box worked backwards to the way it needed to. He made a reverser gearbox and fitted that to the end of the steering column, to reverse the direction of rotation! Sounds scary, but actually works okay, and steering ratio is very quick. But I don't really like it, it is a bit cumbersome, and there is a little bit of freeplay in the gearbox that I can't get rid of. The steering box and reverser box flex a bit on their brackets. I have a PS box from a Mk3 Transit that I am going to replace it all with in a similar way you did yours (thanks for the article!)
