Mk1 Ute Ratrod Transit - New Zealand Build Hotrod or Notrod

Postby towtnz » Wed Jan 14, 2015 2:44 pm

If you want to find this at any time lets search Notrod to make the hunt easy :D

So I have be encouraged to start a Thread about the Ute in the drive way from the welcome page.....

So please hang in there with the spelling as its not my for-tay.

This Mk1 Ute started life as a work ute then became a farm truck, The oem 4v is long gone and had a stuffed 2.0L cortina motor in it,
just hacked into front for the fan to fit & fitted with an adapter to the old 4v box to bolt up, plate still hear in the shed.

Cleared off the tray, sold that, removed on motor, sold that with another 2.0 cortina motor.
box went too. striped the inside of the cab, dash pads and steal frame remain for now.

Hears where you become interested or discussed...............

200 ml is coming out of the side ( roof chop & split )
Cab is coming off is box chassis ( OEM Transit SWB )
Its new home is a Nissan D21 2WD Chassis
That's getting stretched / lengthened and hears why....

one of 2.5ish power drives

No1 is Mitisi GTO Twin Turbo 400hp RWD setup
or
No2 is Holden (Australia GM) 3.8L V6 RWD Setup
or if the budget growes the 2.5
No2.5 Holden 5.0L V8 RWD 185 kw

All injected motors
the twist

 Mid Mount for what ever suites 8)

Photos will get hosted & a link will come with.
from pickup the Mk1 to current i have em all.

So this is not the OEM rebuild or std mods we look for.
hate it or love it or interested to see how it goes this is it.
Im not a rich man no do i have much time but with busted
hand this "GTU" (GT Ute) will be done, Hot rod Rat Rod or
Not Rod? This will be a Daily driver with a Ute Tray 1st & a 2nd
tray being a transporter tray so it go and go well
on a budget of not much & stop like a boss.

Some Vids will have to be made so links for thos too.

So now you know what do ya think??

Cheer's Thomas, but not the Tank engine

Sounds like an excellent plan to me matey. It may upset some of the purists, but bugger them.
Crack on and get some pics up matey. 8)

Update Feb 2015- Mk1 Ute Ratrod Transit - New Zealand Build

Postby towtnz » Fri Feb 20, 2015 10:18 pm

Update;
Front end removed, steering to come out next along with grinder on the chassie behind the cab then into the shed
it goes!!!!

Next up is some wheels for a pallet as it will go on its back for a wile, when the rust n mods will be done.

Next job is a transaxel gearbox to take the power.
Also looks like the roof chop may not be needed now its come back down to earth so will make a
decision on that when the cab is on its new home.
