In Portugal the main dealer of Ford (Ford Lusitania) in 2010 decide to create a Transit Trophy, so they produced 20 Transit´s based on sportvan 260s with modification on suspension (coilovers, anti-sway bar, panhard bar, etc...), brakes, and engine (180 bhp and 450nm
). They raced for 2 complete seasons (2010 and 2011) and then its over
. The 20 transits disappeared, they may be stored in a dealer's warehouse to gather dust. However last year there was a Ford dealership that went bankrupt and it became a Transit Trophy for sale, was the number 9 who ran the two seasons with the advertising bankrupt dealer who was the "Bretescar".
It was bought by a gentleman who used it as assistance van for the rally team he had. For this he set up the whole inside of origin and switched the coilovers for better shock absorbers to load. But I knew of the existence of this transit and also knew that the rally team was over and that the owner wanted to sell the van.I contacted the owner and bought the van. Unfortunately shortly afterwards the engine died, but last week I put a new one and now its ready to hit the roads.
The van has now only 20000kms (12500 mi) and when I bought only had 6900 miles.
