smev tap and water pump.

Postby brewyn » Tue Apr 07, 2015 1:12 pm

afternoon guys, and what a cracker it is :)

Hi, I made some alterations to my recently acquired camper, some alterations is an understatement, it was a sh*t bin made to look good, so everything came out right down to the shell and I started over.

Iv'e hit a snag (another one out of many)

my shower would only work if I turned the kitchen tap on, kitchen tap was microswitched but shower wasn't, it also had a pressure switch fitted but this appeared not to work when opening the shower head.

anyways i took apart and figured all the plumbing out :)

Now.. I exchanged the whale submersed pump to an already supplied floking pump, to gain a better flow rate to my shower head which is over 4 metres distance from the water container, but no soon as I did this my smev kitchen sink bust a leak, in trying to fix it iv'e now broken it beyond repair and have ordered a new one.

I'm wondering though before it arrives and I fit it, does my floking have to much pressure to run the smev tap??

any advice would be appreciated, thanks

On an older van from early 90's, 16-30PSI is acceptable, unless you have a carver cascade 1/rapide/2 where I believe has max pressure of 20PSI or somewhere close.

As for the taps, even the old taps fitted in the 90's were rated at 3bar... which is about 40psi

Thanks, just looked and the floking is 30psi, it's running through a carver cascade 2.

Operating pressure of Cascade 2 is 20psi, but can accept upto 44psi) 3 bar in pressure before it will automatically release the pressure.

Thanks for that, hopefully it was just a case of a worn out tap :) hopefully new tap will turn up today so I'll soon find out.

New tap up and running, water heating up nicely and no leaks, need to install the shower supply yet but that and the shower/toilette is a job on it's own. :)
