vibration through brake and clutch pedals

Postby paul33 » Sun Apr 15, 2007 10:17 pm

hi all. i have a 51 plate transit which had been in a smash outside the house a drunk hit it whilst parked up..it got towed away to a firm to get fixed and they said it has a problem with the steering so they took it to jennings and they fixed all the damage on it but not the steering.now as im driving down the road it makes a loud vibration and the faster u get the quieter it goes..if i turn my lock on to the left the noise goes and if i put it on to the right it stays.can anyone help what could be the problem.i reckon it mite be the drive shaft its coming from the side that had a bash

this is an insurance repair yes? take it straight back to the repairer and tell them it's not fixed to your satisfaction - if they don't like it get your insurance company involved - but at the end of the day it's down to the accident and it needs addressing straight away

its been a couple of months now i sold it to my father in law staight after the bash.but he is having more problems since the bash then ever .i had it for 3 years and it wa a brilliant van.i cancelled my insurance cos i am doing taxis and dont need insurance the company pays for it so really cant take i back now.just need ideas what it could be the noise.if i put my left lock on it goes and right lock it stays he has had all the wheels balanced and discs put on and brakes done to see if it stops it.apparently jennings had said the steering was ok but why would uk systems say not.i was just thinking it could be the drive shaft on the left hand side.sorry m8 it was a insurance job yes

well i may be wrong but you payed insurance for a time - in that time the van was damaged you claimed didnt get a proper repair as you should the fact that you subsequently cancelled the insurance is irrelevent imo you still payed for the insurance at the time of the claim :?:

of course i may be wrong

they could say its wasnt the bash that done it couldnt they.they could say its just wear and tear.jennings said nothing was wrong with it and they told the insurance it too.i drove the van back from jennings the day i picked it up and seemed ok then but when i sold it a couple of days after thats when it went pair shaped and noises developed.i would take it back but my fther in law wont want me too because im not insured for the can to drive he said he just wants it fixed because the noise is doing his nut in lol.he doesnt want the hassle because he has had a heart attack recently so wants a quiet life.

thanks i will let him know but think he has had it done already.breaks, discs, balanced, but never stopped the noise.u can feel it in the pedals so really it has to be steering or driveshaft i thought i know alittle about vans and cars but its puzzled me this one.

 Get it properly inspected :!:

It doesn't sound safe  :(

Pay the AA/RAC and get a report off them :D (£150ish)

This will tell you if it was as a result of the accident or not, but more importantly in your case, what is the actual problem with it at the moment

Then you decide if you want to go back to the garage or simply fix it, which I think you'd rather do :!: without going through all that insurance sh*t :!:
